Chris Anderson's theory suggests that media has changed due to the Internet and additionally, that our culture and economy are changing rapidly, a decrease in the number of "hits" sold (mainstream products and markets) and has moved toward a huge increase in the number of niches in the tail. Websites such as, Google and Ebay enable customers to find anything they want online as they can store all different products, unlike instore shops such as HMV. When on the Internet, you can expect to find anything that you are looking for.
It is important to consider the past, present and future. Nowadays, it takes a matter of seconds to download songs, etc. It used to take about an hour, and it the future it is thought that downloading films will take seconds due to a faster broadband rate.
